In 1975, Associates In Eye Care Founder, Dr. Frederick Martin began his optometry practice in Whitley City, Ky. Five years later, Dr. Gary Upchurch joined Dr. Martin with the opening of a second office in Albany, KY; Associates In Eye Care was born. Further expansion came a decade later in 1990, with a third office located in Somerset, KY.

From 1991 to 2019, Doctors Mark Jacobs, Todd Overley, Susanne Lee, Steve Mckinley, Lindsay McKinley, Kevin Mysliwiec, Sandy Mysliwiec, Katy Wilson, and Matthew Tetsa joined the team of eye care professionals. During that time, four more offices opened in Williamsburg, KY; Jellico, TN; Jacksboro, TN; and Russell Springs, KY.

We have a passion for compassion at Associates In Eye Care. Each member of our team is committed to public service and believes in providing health care to all those in need. Dr. Martin is not only the founder of our multi-location eye care clinics, but he also established HIS Servants Ministries. The non-profit is an international mission organization dedicated to providing healthcare services in developing countries around the world including Guatemala, Kenya, and Thailand. Our optometrists proudly serve on these mission trips to help bring a better life to those less fortunate.
